In the face of risks and challenges, members of the Group of Twenty (G20) should work together to provide stability to an unstable world, said Finance Minister Liu Kun.
From April 20 to 21, the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting was held in a combination of online and offline. Liu Kun attended and spoke at the conference by video.
Liu Kun said that efforts should be made to improve the international system with the United Nations at the core and the international order based on international law, and the world economy should not be politicized, instrumentalized or weaponized. Foster a sense of community, adopt responsible economic policies, and tap the impetus for innovation. We will address the concerns of developing countries through multiple channels to ensure that people's livelihood will not be affected. China welcomes all parties to support and participate in global development initiatives and accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Liu Kun pointed out that China is willing to continue to work with all parties to improve the global health governance architecture under the framework of the World Health Organization, strengthen cooperation on anti-epidemic financing, and implement the consensus of G20 leaders. China supports the G20 financial channel to share experience on financial policies to address climate change and promote green and low-carbon development based on its own functions and in accordance with the relevant principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Following the principle of "joint action and fair burden", China is ready to implement the Joint Framework for Debt Management following the Debt Relief Initiative on a case-by-case basis and in accordance with the G20 consensus.
In response to the remarks made by some members on the impact of geopolitics on the global economy, China stressed that it opposes politicizing economic issues. The G20 should adhere to its own responsibilities, and relevant discussions should focus on economic impact and follow the principle of comprehensive and balanced development.
